Paris to Avignon bike ride

bike_rideOn the 18th September 2015 we traveled from London to Paris on Eurostar. Then the agony started as we set off to cycled through the middle of France, across the Massif Central.

So who took part? was it 12 fit, young athletes who wouldn’t be out of place in the Chippendales?

Well no… it was 12 middle aged gents who wouldn’t be out of place in the pub with chips and ale!

Bikes were purchased, training commenced, diets modified….all to take on this challenge of cycling over 500 miles in 7 days in aid of those affected by teenage cancer.

They were supported throughout the ride by three volunteer support drivers. All of the participants funded the cost of the trip themselves, ensuring that one hundred percent of the funds raised go directly into the Trust.

Caroline Clare Dance School raise £5000

In June 2015, Caroline Clare Dance School that Alexandra and her 2 older sisters attended from the age of three, held a fundraiser in Alex’s memory. Caroline, her dance teacher, Lisa, a valued dance Mum and helper organized the whole day and raised a whopping £5,000. Caroline, her dance teacher also donated a trophy to the dance school in Alexandra’s memory to be awarded to children who show determination throughout the year. A very fitting trophy. All in all, a very emotional evening.

A young secondary school girl who attends the same school as Alexandra, kindly took place in the Race for Life in Alexandra’s name, as did a group of Alexandra’s friends while she was being treated, to show her how much they cared.
